Richard Satava is known for his incredible hand-blown glass work which has been displayed and sold all over the country by various galleries and aquariums. He established Satava Art Glass in 1977 and has evolved his skills since then. Satava’s work mainly focuses on ocean life and nautical themes which were inspired from a visit to Monterey Bay Aquarium where Satava was able to view the nature of the jellyfish. The jellyfish in glass has become very popular and these one-of-a-kind pieces have been created using a special technique. Satava is able to create the colors by blending various metallic oxides such as silver, cobalt, selenium, cadmium, and other molten glass. While the piece is on the blowpipe, colored rods of glass are being melted to create the images. Here is some of the amazing work from Satava Art Glass.
