Artist Anila Quayyum Agha has installed her latest artwork Intersections at Houston’s Rice Gallery. The artist creates these intricate and beautifully patterned pieces through the elements of light and shadow by laser cutting into large wooden cubes, then placing light inside which casts shadows onto all of its surroundings. Agha was influenced by Islamic temples through her use of pattern and imagery in this piece. Her work becomes something that the viewer can interact with as they to become a part of the artwork as the shadows then cast on them.
Intersections is available to view at Rice Gallery now–December 6,2015.
